Valheim servers can change the skill gain and reduction rate to customize how quickly players gain skill XP by playing. This setting lets players fine-tune reductions that come with death penalties, as well as gains when using associated skills. By having higher levels of skills, players can tackle more challenging boss encounters, as they can greatly affect a character's ability to dodge, run, and generally fight more effectively.
1. Log in to the BisectHosting Starbase panel.
2. Stop the server.
3. Select the Settings tab and choose Valheim Server Options.
4. Toggle File View.
5. Adjust the skillgainrate and skillreductionrate values. They are measured in percentages.
6. Press Save.
7. Start the server.
