Valheim servers can change the default death penalty to create a more relaxing or more tense experience. Users have multiple options to enable, ranging from losing all skills on death to completely deleting items instead of dropping them or allowing players to retain their equipped gear. This setting can be updated at any time and will not reset player progress when changed, allowing users to update it as needed and ensuring flexibility.
1. Log in to the BisectHosting Starbase panel.
2. Stop the server.
3. Go to Config Files tab and choose Valheim Server Options.
4. Under Keep Equipped on Death, choose Enabled to retain any equipped items after dying.
5. To increase the penalty for dying, review the other on Death settings available.

6. Start the server.
