The stable release of Build 42 for Project Zomboid brings significant expansions like new map areas, deeper crafting, and complex combat mechanics that demand more server resources. Many server operators opt to revert to the older Build 41 legacy branch through Steam to maintain stability, preserve community progress, and ensure compatibility with established mods that have not yet updated for Build 42. Since save files do not transfer between builds, switching back allows communities to continue their existing worlds without disruption.
1. Log in to the BisectHosting Starbase panel.
2. Stop the server.
3. Select the Settings tab.
4. In the Steam Beta Branch field, input legacy41.
5. Go to the Home tab.
6. On the Reinstall Server table, select Reinstall.
7. Choose an option for server files and click Reinstall.
8. Wait for the installation to finish.
9. Start the server.
