Valheim mods are typically managed by a mod launcher such as R2Modman or Thunderstore. These launchers include an extremely appealing user interface that makes installing mods quick and easy. Some users may have larger servers they wish to try mods on. Fortunately, there is a straightforward way to share mod profiles for both mod launchers, which users can use individually or on dedicated servers via our built-in modpack installer.

Note: Users who already have an export file can skip to the Installation steps.

How to Install a Modpack on a Valheim Server

1. Launch Thunderstore Mod Manager and select the desired profile.

2. Open the Settings menu.

3. Under Export Profile, choose As a file.

4. Log in to the BisectHosting Starbase panel.

5. Stop the server.

6. Go to the Files tab.

7. Upload the mod profile to the main directory.

8. Copy the file name, excluding the .r2z extension, by Right-click > Rename.

9. Select the Settings tab and choose Startup.

10. Ensure that BepinEx is set to Enabled.

11. From the R2Z Export field, paste the file name from step 8.

12. Start the server.

13. Once finished, all installed mods can be viewed in the BepInEx/plugins folder. 

How to Install a Modpack on a Valheim Client

Note: Be cautious when installing modpacks or files from unverified sources.

1. Download and launch the Thunderstore Mod Manager.

2. Search for Valheim and choose Select Game. 

3. Press Select Platform with the desired platform chosen.

4. When selecting a profile, press Import/Update.

5. Choose From file.

Note: If using a modpack code, choose From code instead and enter the provided code.

6. Select the modpacks .r2z file.

7. Press Import.
