Editing loot tables on a DayZ server is done primarily to customize the gameplay experience, allowing server owners to fine-tune the difficulty and realism beyond the default settings. This modification enables precise control over the scarcity and availability of specific items, such as high-tier weapons, food, or building materials, directly influencing the server's economy and player survival challenge. Ultimately, altering the loot tables on the panel or from DayZ Standalone Tools is essential for balancing PvP and PvE elements, promoting specific playstyles, and creating a unique server identity that appeals to a particular player base.
