Entity lag happens when a Minecraft server struggles to process large groups of animals, monsters, and dropped items at the same time. The game monitors and updates these entities as long as they remain within a specific distance of active players. Spigot and Paper servers, like the foundational Bukkit software, include built-in settings to limit how far an entity can be before it stops updating. Lowering these default tracking and activation ranges forces the server to pause actions for creatures and items located further away. This adjustment frees up system resources and prevents performance drops when worlds become crowded.
Requirement: Spigot or Paper must be installed. Learn how to here.
