Adjusting the simulation distance on a Minecraft server allows administrators to control how far away from a player active world mechanics—such as crop growth, redstone contraptions, and mob AI—will process. Lowering this value significantly reduces CPU strain and server lag by limiting the number of active chunks the hardware has to calculate at once. Conversely, increasing it ensures that automated farms and technical builds continue to operate smoothly even as players move farther away.
1. Log in to the BisectHosting Starbase panel.
2. Stop the server.
3. Take note of the View Distance.
4. Select the Config Files tab and choose Server Properties.
5. From the Simulation Distance field, enter a value equal to or lower than the view distance from step 3.
