Upgrading the Workbench in Windrose involves placing physical add-on structures rather than simply clicking a traditional upgrade button. Players must craft extension items from the building menu. These add-ons do not need to be placed directly next to the Workbench, as they only require construction anywhere within the area of influence of the same local Bonfire. Once an add-on is established nearby, the Workbench automatically upgrades to unlock more advanced crafting recipes.
1. Discover Copper Ingots by advancing through the tutorial.
2. The Sawing Rack (Sawhorse) building element will be unlocked.
3. Gather 20 Wood and 10 Copper Ingots.
Wood is acquired by cutting down trees with an axe or picking up logs from the ground.
Copper Ingots are made in the Smelting Furnace using 4 Copper Ore and 1 Charcoal.
4. Press B to enter Building Mode.
5. Right-click to open the Building Panel.
6. Under Workbench, select the Sawhorse.
7. Place the Sawhorse in the same Bonfire range as the Workbench.
8. The Workbench will now be upgraded to Level 2.
9. Unlock further upgrades by completing quests and exploring the map.
