Project Zomboid Animal Ranching Overview

Project Zomboid is an open-world zombie survival game set in post-apocalyptic Kentucky, emphasizing realistic survival mechanics. Animal ranching is a feature introduced in Build 42 that allows players to domesticate and raise various forms of livestock. This system requires players to find animals such as cows, pigs, and chickens and then provide for their needs, including food, water, shelter, and managing their breeding cycles. Raising animals yields renewable resources like meat, milk, eggs, and leather, allowing players to achieve greater self-sufficiency.

	Cows	Milk Meat Leather	None	Bulls can be aggressive and may fight other bulls. Baby cows need their mother's milk. Milk is produced after giving birth.
	Pigs	Meat Leather	Sept - Feb	Can be agitated/aggressive. Can't get milk from Sows.
	Chickens	Eggs Meat Feathers Chicken Feet	None	Requires a Chicken Hutch for shelter & egg laying. Needs a Rooster nearby for eggs to hatch new chicks. Close Hutch door at night to protect from potential predators. Hutch needs occasional cleaning.
	Rabbits	Small Meat	None	Breeds quickly. Pick up to tame faster.
	Rats Mice	Small Meat	None	Breeds very quickly. Can mate when adolescent. Can be led with a rope.
	Sheep	Wool Meat Milk	Sept - Feb	Rams can be aggressive and fight other rams. Baby sheep need their mother's milk. Wool can be spun into thread/yarn.
	Turkeys	Meat Feathers	April - May	Bred for meat and feathers.

Note: Deer and raccoons cannot currently be ranched and will always run away.
