Minecraft snapshots are experimental versions of the game, offering a glimpse of upcoming features and changes before their official release. Primarily available for the Java Edition, these snapshots are identified by a naming convention that includes the year, week, and release order (e.g., 23w04a for the fourth snapshot in week 4 of 2023 for version 1.20). Snapshots are designed for players eager to test new features and provide valuable feedback to Mojang, the developer of Minecraft.
Note: Snapshots can be unstable and may cause world corruption, lag, or server faults. A new world is highly recommended when using Snapshots.
