Installing a custom map on a 7 Days to Die server gives players a fresh world to explore, moving past the predictable layouts of the standard pre-made maps. A custom world can be tailored with specific biome sizes, unique city placements, and custom trader locations to fit a community's playstyle better. It breathes new life into the multiplayer experience by introducing completely unfamiliar terrain and new survival challenges.
Requirement: The custom map must be compatible with the server version. Learn how to change the server branch here.
1. Download the desired custom map here. Take note of any additional installation instructions in the description.
2. Log in to the BisectHosting Starbase panel.
3. Stop the server.
4. Go to the Files tab.
5. Find the following directory: /home/container/Data/Worlds
6. Upload the zipped file from step 1.
7. Right-click the file and choose Unarchive.
8. Open the custom map folder. Take note of the folder name.
9. Choose mapinfo.xml.
10. Take note of the HeightMapSize value.
11. Select the Config Files tab and choose Server Config.
12. Navigate to the World section.
13. Edit the following settings.

| WorldGenSize | Input the world size from step 10. |
| GameName | Enter a new game save name. |
14. Press the Save button.
15. Start the server. Players joining the server will automatically download the new map.
How to Install a Custom Map in 7 Days to Die (Steam)
1. Download the desired custom map here. Take note of any additional instructions in the description.
2. From the Steam Library, right-click 7 Days to Die and hover over Manage, then select Browse Local Files.
3. Find the following directory: \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die\Data\Worlds
4. Extract the zipped file from step 1 to the directory in step 3.
