Disabling land claiming on a Vintage Story server fosters a high-stakes, communal environment where players must rely on social trust and hidden bases rather than mechanical protections to secure their resources. Without claim banners, the world remains fully interactable, preventing "ghost towns" of abandoned, protected structures from cluttering the landscape over time. This setting is ideal for hardcore or roleplay servers where the risks of theft and griefing are viewed as intentional gameplay challenges that drive player interaction.
