Automated storage in Terraria 1.4.5 uses new mechanics, such as "Hoppers" and conveyors, to move items directly into containers without manual intervention. Chests can now be wired to automatically "vacuum" nearby dropped items, which significantly increases the efficiency of automated mob and boss farms. By integrating these tools with the ability to craft directly from nearby chests, a base becomes a centralized hub that eliminates the need for manual storage, thus becoming an automated factory.
1. Open the Mechanic NPC shop.
Note: Basic wiring requires the Mechanic NPC. Rescue the Mechanic in the dungeon.
2. Purchase the following items. Wires can be placed in Ammo.Wrench | Timer | Wires
3. Place the Timer near the desired Chest.
4. Use the Wrench to connect wires from the Timer to the Chest.
5. Right-click the Timer to activate.
6. The Chest will pick up any dropped items in a 5-block radius.
Note: Chests will auto-stack the items.
7. Build an automated farm alongside Conveyor Belts.
