Transformation mounts in Terraria replace the player character's model with a new entity, fundamentally altering both visual appearance and physical hitboxes. These specialized items often grant unique movement capabilities, such as wall-climbing, infinite flight, or the ability to navigate through narrow one-block spaces. While transformed, players frequently encounter specific restrictions, such as the inability to use weapons or the loss of the form upon taking damage or entering liquids. Compatibility with accessories varies across transformations, with some allowing boosted jump height or liquid walking, while others disable movement-based equipment like wings and boots.
Bat
The Bat transformation provides infinite flight and a compact hitbox measuring approximately 1.25 blocks in height and width. This form features a horizontal dash activated by double-tapping directional inputs, but the transformation is immediately cancelled if an item is used, fire damage is sustained, or the player becomes submerged in water. While the bat is relatively slow compared to walking and remains fragile, it offers a unique source of infinite flight, even in pre-Hardmode when obtained via chests in the Vampirism secret world seed. In standard gameplay, the item is dropped by Vampires during a Solar Eclipse and does not cause sunlight vulnerability outside of its specific secret seed.
Summoning Item: Amulet of the Night
Pixie
The Pixie transformation reduces the character’s size to a single block and provides infinite flight. While in this form, the character emits a dim light in a 15-block radius but is unable to attack; attempting to use a weapon immediately cancels the transformation. The mount maintains a maximum speed of 24 mph, though movement is halved in water or lava and reduced to one-fourth in honey. These speed penalties can be mitigated by using Neptune's Shell in water or a Flipper Potion in any liquid.
Summoning Item: Enchanted Pixie Dust
Rat
The Rat transformation prevents the use of all items but provides acceleration comparable to Hermes Boots. Its small hurtbox allows for navigation through one-block gaps, and attempting to revert to human form three times within a confined space will teleport the character to a nearby open area. The transformation enables wall-climbing by moving toward a vertical surface and using directional inputs to ascend or descend. While the rat naturally slides down walls when pressing against them, this effect is mitigated by equipping either Climbing Claws or Shoe Spikes. Furthermore, this form benefits from significantly reduced fall damage.
Summoning Item: Cursed Piper Flute
Velociraptor
The Velociraptor mount transforms the player’s appearance, allowing the character to visually hold most weapons and consume items. It reaches a top speed of 38 mph, unaffected by movement speed boosts, and features a base jump height of 7.5 tiles without the ability to ram or damage enemies. The mount is compatible with various accessories, including double-jump items, the Bundle of Balloons for increased height, and Lava Waders for walking on liquids, while also significantly reducing fall damage. Activation is marked by a low dinosaur growl and a puff of white smoke. Measuring three tiles high and two tiles wide, the mount fits through standard doorways and displays a unique moonwalking animation when autoswing weapons are used while moving backward. Additionally, while dashing is disabled, the mount can be used with wings, which summons a Pterosaur to carry the Velociraptor during flight.
Summoning Item: Slasher’s Mysterious Skull
Wolf
The Wolf mount is a compact transformation that requires only a three-tile-high clearance and reaches a top running speed of 48 mph with rapid acceleration. While this form disables the use of wings, boots, and the Flying Carpet, it remains compatible with extra jump accessories, and items like the Magiluminescence will increase its deceleration speed. Visually, the Wolf supports dyes and select vanity items, though its unique posture shifts the origin point of whip attacks to its head, effectively increasing their range. The mount is obtained as a rare drop from Wolves or as starting equipment for Journey Mode characters named Wolfpet or Wolf Pet.
