Enshrouded is a popular survival action RPG that currently lacks official modding support in its Early Access phase. To fill this gap, the community developed the Enshrouded Mod Loader (EML), a third-party tool that seamlessly injects custom modifications into the game. This allows players to develop gameplay tweaks, building enhancements, and various quality-of-life adjustments for the game.
Note: Check the mod descriptions for EML compatibility.
On a fresh server reinstall, boot the server once to generate files before enabling the mod loader.
1. Download the desired mod.
2. Unzip the file into an empty folder.
3. Log in to the BisectHosting Starbase panel.
4. Stop the server.
5. Select the Settings tab and choose Mod Settings.
6. Next to EML, set the value to true.
7. Press Save.
8. Start the server.
9. Once fully booted, stop the server.
10. Go to the Files tab.
11. Enter the DLLMods folder.
12. Upload the .dll files from the mods main directory.
13. If the mod contains a mods or data folder, return to the Root Directory.
Note: The root directory will contain
enshrouded_server.exe.
14. Open the folder locally, there will be another folder inside.
15. Upload the folder to the servers root directory.
16. For mods that require an already running server, or specific load order, return to the Mod Settings menu.
17. Setting Deferred to true will delay mod loading until the game is started.
18. To adjust load order, list each .dll file name per line in the [Load] section. Mods will load in order from top to bottom.
19. If any edits were made, press Save.
20. Start the server.
How to Install Mods on an Enshrouded Client
1. Download dbghelp.dll here.
2. From the Steam Library, right-click Enshrouded, hover Manage, and select Browse local files.
3. Place dbghelp.dll into the directory.
4. Create a new folder and name it mods.
5. Download the desired mod.
6. Extract the .zip mod file into the mods folder.
7. Verify the mod path matches the following: /Enshrouded/mods/<mod name>/mod.json
8. Join the server.
