TShock Terraria servers can restrict players so they can only play specific character types. By restricting the character type to hardcore, the server effectively becomes a permadeath or one-life server. Users can also customize this feature to automatically kick or ban players who die, raising the stakes and making death extremely impactful. Players should note that once the server progresses to Hardmode, it will be much more difficult to start a character from scratch.
